But first let me introduce you to the new Bing homepage you’re going to notice some subtle but important changes first we have an expanded search box capable of accepting up to a thousand characters because now Bing works with natural language and you saw a little

Hint to chat which I’m going to get back to in a second now I want to set up the first search scenario my daughter and I we both love art she’s starting art at school and I’d like to stay connected with her on our mutual passion last semester she was learning

About Mexican painters I’d like to get a quick summary of the most influential Mexican painters and their Works to learn a bit more about the topic if I type the full query of what I’d like to know in today’s search here’s what I’d get and so I’ll just type in compare the

Most influential Mexican artists and their top paintings and you’ll get what you expect right some links it’s fine but we can do better let’s try this now in the new Bing what you’ll see as we pull up is first you see the web results here on the left

But then on the right you start to see how we start to compile the answer and what you get here now is we have the ability to highlight these web links we can annotate the results and that’s because we’re able to go in and apply our index onto the answers there

In other words the answers and the search on one page has saved me a huge amount of time this gives you a little bit of a sense of what you can do now you’ve seen some of this before you might say hey I’ve seen some of this let’s show you how we

Can do some additional things I’m going to show you another query so where we use the timeliness of search so let’s go ahead and ask about events in Scottsdale during the Super Bowl and what you’ll see is we get back an answer here where we have events and

We’re able to do that because Bank calls web notice how we can find not only that the Super Bowl is played in Glendale on the 12th but then events like cardi B Super Bowl party that’s on the 10th also shows up so we were able to pull these things together

So you get to start to get a sense of how we can build on what’s today with the Bing index now I’m going to show you a few more of these types of answers quickly so you can get a sense of the power and The Time Savings from Bing

When I’m running an errand like the example I gave to you earlier I can ask me to determine if that new love seat from Ikea is going to fit in the back of my Honda Odyssey and what you’ll see is Bing can actually find the dimensions of the love seat

The Interior Space of the car and then make an estimation as to whether it will fit in this case I’m choosing an example of where Bing does not know the answer and we know and we know that we can’t be definitive about it and the reason I’m

Doing that is because we know we won’t be able to answer every question every time but Bing can still provide some helpful information as you can see on this answer we also know we’ll make our share of mistakes and as we begin to roll this out so we’ve added a quick feedback

Button at the top of every search so that you can give us feedback and we can learn another example when I’m shopping I can ask Bing to search find and compare the top three selling pet vacuums list listing the pros and cons and just take

A look look how great this answer is it has all three of the products I’m looking for super helpful pros and cons and think if you had to compile that how much time that would take you to do and as you can see at the top of the page we

Still have the advertising in this example because we know when people are shopping Those ads are helpful and finally on this one if I’m cooking and I realize I’ve forgotten a key ingredient for in this case for example eggs for my cake recipe Bing can not only find the exact the egg

Substitutes it can get me the exact amount for each ingredient and and take a look at this I love this you can actually see for example if you go with vinegar and baking soda the cake is lighter and more fluffy these are just little helpful tips that

Every day help make your life a little better these are just some examples and you can start to get a sense of how with answers we go far beyond what you can do with search day we can actually help you get what you want to get done

Now let me tell you about how Bing goes further to help you with particularly complex questions for which there’s not a precise answer I wanted to introduce to you the new chat experience in bing I think of this as search with your own personal helper to help you refine your query until you

Get exactly what you’re looking for this comes in handy for activities like trip planning and shopping research let’s start with shopping so I’m going to look for a 65-inch TV again you see our ads at the top the result the links on the left and the

Answers here on the right and you can pick whichever you’d like we give you a good set of answers but now I want to refine this query so I can do that by going to chat now I can either swipe up with my fingers or look

Up here at the top of the screen we have now a new chat scope and with that with one click you are now into chat look how beautiful that is search to chat just so seamless and now we take away all of the content that was in your place and you

Focus you on your query the search box you can’t see now that can take up to 2 000 characters so you can really you can just talk to it you can just ask for it so in this case let’s say I’m going to ask for a gaming optimized TV

All I have to say is which of these are best for gaming and we remember all of the context we know that we’re talking about flat screens we know we’re talking about 65-inch TVs and look how Bing starts to come back it does all the queries on my behalf and comes back with

A great answer and I just want to highlight a few things for you since we know you’re asking about gaming TVs we pull out oh this one has a game Optimizer this has game mode and so we make that really helpful I’m on a budget

I’ll ask it to adjust it for which one of these is the cheapest again Bing knows the context and it just goes in and re-fires the queries so easy you just talk to it and you can refine your shopping experience and again we find the prices here I didn’t

Know you could get a flat screen for under 500 but that’s a good deal there on Bing if you’re looking for a TV all right so we think that’s going to make shopping and shopping easier let’s talk about travel and before I jump in I

Want to kind of just remind you have you remind yourself when you’re going to plan a trip to a foreign country think about all the things you go through travel times what sites do I want to see regulations to observe budget our research shows were on Bing people spend

On average weeks to even months to plan a trip and to use our organizational tools I’m going to show you how we make that so much easier with the new Bing I’m traveling to Mexico for my cousin’s wedding and with the new being I now don’t have to start with something

That’s dumbed down like Mexico City travel tips I can ask for what I want first let me just compare that against what you get in today’s search engines so I’ll type in this long query of what I really want and you know you get what

You expect links to go try and find find the answer for yourself right but we can do much better let’s try it in the new Bing so I’ll type the I put in the long query which is essentially create an itinerary for a five-day trip to Mexico City for me and my family

And just like that Bing goes to work and just take a look at how it starts to compile it starts with day one and we we put in there look arrive in Mexico City check into your hotel go check out maybe the Playa de artes you know have some

Lunch then there’s day two and you see isn’t this just so much better as a starting point and look if you want to learn more if you’re like hey I don’t love these five days no problem down there we have links where you can go and learn more

And uh and we put in some nice touches in there as well and again now let’s say business travel changes oh I only have a three day I don’t have to go back out there and figure I just say hey make this a three-day trip and Bing reflows that recommendation

Into a three-day trip and now let’s now let’s just have some fun let’s say okay yeah I’m still trip planning um we like to shop where can I shop and you get some shopping recommendations like to go out at night all right make the most of the trip where’s the nightlife

And you get a list of nightlife you see this is just so much better than today’s shirt search to start uh for your travel planning let me show you a final example of uh chat and how I think the new language models are going to maybe help

Bring the world a little bit closer together understanding different cultures is often done through the Arts like music and literature and I’ve been fascinated by Japanese Traditions saty shared with me one of his favorite searches from a while back on poetry so with that I’m going to use that as inspiration so

Without a clear idea of what I want necessarily I’m just going to type in a simple prompt top Japanese poets and Bing starts to respond with a nice list and you see this it does a great job of mixing the Japanese language and the English language and it knows since

I’m currently in English to do that right away I learned about this poet matsuo bashu turns out he is uh one of the greatest Haiku masters of the world I love how it not only lists his name but we go ahead and we give you one of

His famous haikus in Japanese and we Auto translate it in English great and I could say I want to learn a little bit more about matsuo so I can tell me a little bit more we give you another jumping off point that’s great and then I can say hey tell

Me about another haiku now what I want you to reflect on is look how easy this is to discover something new normally I might not have done this I might not have gone to learn about something new in the world through search because it’s just you know it’s

Cumbersome to click on links and have to deal with foreign languages but this is what we mean by unlocking the joy of discovery all right finally when what you are searching for doesn’t exist and you need that spark of creativity Bing can generate the content to help you get started

We just finished planning that trip to Mexico and now what I would like to do is I’d like to share that information with my family they’re all over the world but I can simply ask Bing hey write an email sharing this itinerary uh with that I’ve

Researched and and put it in the thing for me to be able to send to my family so notice here how the email starts it’s a great email personalized touches has the trip highlights it’ll close here with a nice heartfelt message it’s just a great way it just saves a bunch of

Time on your everyday work now for my family uh English isn’t necessarily always the first language so I can ask Bing to just translate that in Spanish and with a simple request just basically say hey translate it to Spanish big knows to take that entire email and itinerary and convert that into Spanish

In fact Bing can translate automatically in over a hundred languages my sister I’m going to admit to you she’s a better Spanish writer than I am but I might just impress her with this one here and even if I don’t at least I save myself a lot of time from having to

Type the mail our focus with Bing is to help generate content and inspiration that helps you with your daily life and I’m going to give you a couple more examples uh let me show you one here I want to create a weekly meal plan from my family a four that has vegetarian

Options and caters to those that don’t like nuts since I’m not the healthiest of eater I’m going to admit to you here on occasion this has given me a great uh list Day by Day breakfast lunch and dinner with all of the ingredients so much easier to help you start like to

Create a meal plan that says hey let me get to a healthier meal plan uh now this there’s some things in there I learned when I did this query which is chia seeds which I don’t normally eat that sparked another idea to show you let’s

Say I want to get this grocery list by grocery section so all I can do is say give me that grocery list by grocery section and Bing now takes that exact menu for the week and puts all of the ingredients I need by section by grocery

Section so when I go shopping that can be super efficient right so you see all of the ingredients there it’s a great it’s a great help and then finally if you’re looking for family activities and you’re struggling for ideas Bing can help you with fun things like spontaneous trivia games

My family and I were into music so I asked Bing to create a 90s music trivia game and just look how great some of these questions are and the answer so just create that game for you and uh um we were having a little debate backstage

About one of the questions that comes up here which is uh who wrote the hip song uh Jump Around is it crisscross or House of Pain and I call it out because it shows you how clever it is because for those of you who know your 90s hip-hop

Kriss Kross wrote a song called jump but House of Pain was the one that wrote jump around that’s how clever Bing is so Bing is going to help you make great with your look great with your family and have a bunch of fun

,00:00 but first let me introduce you to the
00:01 new Bing homepage
00:03 you’re going to notice some subtle but
00:05 important changes
00:06 first we have an expanded search box
00:08 capable of accepting up to a thousand
00:10 characters because now Bing works with
00:12 natural language and you saw a little
00:14 hint to chat which I’m going to get back
00:15 to in a second
00:17 now I want to set up the first search
00:18 scenario
00:19 my daughter and I we both love art she’s
00:21 starting art at school and I’d like to
00:22 stay connected with her on our mutual
00:24 passion last semester she was learning
00:26 about Mexican painters I’d like to get a
00:28 quick summary of the most influential
00:30 Mexican painters and their Works to
00:32 learn a bit more about the topic
00:33 if I type the full query of what I’d
00:35 like to know in today’s search here’s
00:37 what I’d get
00:41 and so I’ll just type in compare the
00:43 most influential Mexican artists
00:46 and their top paintings
00:48 and you’ll get what you expect right
00:49 some links it’s fine but we can do
00:52 better let’s try this now in the new
00:54 Bing
00:55 what you’ll see as we pull up is first
00:58 you see the web results here on the left
01:00 but then on the right you start to see
01:02 how we start to compile the answer
01:04 and what you get here now is we have the
01:06 ability to highlight these web links we
01:08 can annotate the results and that’s
01:10 because we’re able to go in and apply
01:12 our index onto the answers there
01:15 in other words the answers and the
01:17 search on one page has saved me a huge
01:19 amount of time
01:21 this gives you a little bit of a sense
01:22 of what you can do now you’ve seen some
01:24 of this before you might say hey I’ve
01:25 seen some of this let’s show you how we
01:27 can do some additional things I’m going
01:29 to show you another query
01:30 so where we use the timeliness of search
01:34 so let’s go ahead and ask about events
01:36 in Scottsdale
01:37 during the Super Bowl
01:40 and what you’ll see is we get back an
01:42 answer here where we have events and
01:45 we’re able to do that because Bank calls
01:47 web notice how we can find not only that
01:49 the Super Bowl is played in Glendale on
01:52 the 12th but then events like cardi B
01:54 Super Bowl party that’s on the 10th also
01:56 shows up so we were able to pull these
01:58 things together
01:59 so you get to start to get a sense of
02:01 how we can build on what’s today with
02:02 the Bing index
02:04 now I’m going to show you a few more of
02:06 these types of answers quickly so you
02:08 can get a sense of the power and The
02:09 Time Savings from Bing
02:11 when I’m running an errand like the
02:13 example I gave to you earlier I can ask
02:15 me to determine if that new love seat
02:18 from Ikea is going to fit in the back of
02:19 my Honda Odyssey and what you’ll see is
02:22 Bing can actually find the dimensions of
02:24 the love seat
02:25 the Interior Space of the car and then
02:27 make an estimation as to whether it will
02:29 fit
02:30 in this case I’m choosing an example of
02:32 where Bing does not know the answer
02:34 and we know and we know that we can’t be
02:37 definitive about it and the reason I’m
02:38 doing that is because we know we won’t
02:40 be able to answer every question every
02:42 time but Bing can still provide some
02:44 helpful information as you can see on
02:46 this answer
02:47 we also know we’ll make our share of
02:49 mistakes and as we begin to roll this
02:51 out so we’ve added a quick feedback
02:53 button at the top of every search so
02:55 that you can give us feedback and we can
02:56 learn
02:58 another example when I’m shopping I can
03:00 ask Bing to search find and compare the
03:03 top three selling pet vacuums list
03:05 listing the pros and cons and just take
03:07 a look look how great this answer is it
03:10 has all three of the products I’m
03:12 looking for super helpful pros and cons
03:15 and think if you had to compile that how
03:17 much time that would take you to do and
03:20 as you can see at the top of the page we
03:21 still have the advertising in this
03:23 example because we know when people are
03:25 shopping Those ads are helpful
03:27 and finally on this one if I’m cooking
03:30 and I realize I’ve forgotten a key
03:31 ingredient for in this case for example
03:33 eggs for my cake recipe
03:36 Bing can not only find the exact the egg
03:38 substitutes it can get me the exact
03:40 amount for each ingredient
03:42 and and take a look at this I love this
03:44 you can actually see for example if you
03:46 go with vinegar and baking soda the cake
03:49 is lighter and more fluffy
03:50 these are just little helpful tips that
03:53 every day help make your life a little
03:54 better these are just some examples and
03:56 you can start to get a sense of how with
03:58 answers we go far beyond what you can do
04:00 with search day we can actually help you
04:02 get what you want to get done
04:04 now let me tell you about how Bing goes
04:06 further to help you with particularly
04:08 complex questions for which there’s not
04:09 a precise answer
04:11 I wanted to introduce to you the new
04:13 chat experience in bing I think of this
04:16 as search with your own personal helper
04:17 to help you refine your query until you
04:19 get exactly what you’re looking for
04:21 this comes in handy for activities like
04:23 trip planning and shopping research
04:25 let’s start with shopping
04:27 so I’m going to look for a 65-inch TV
04:30 again you see our ads at the top the
04:33 result the links on the left and the
04:35 answers here on the right and you can
04:36 pick whichever you’d like
04:38 we give you a good set of answers but
04:40 now I want to refine this query so I can
04:42 do that by going to chat now I can
04:44 either swipe up with my fingers or look
04:46 up here at the top of the screen we have
04:48 now a new chat scope and with that with
04:51 one click you are now into chat look how
04:54 beautiful that is search to chat just so
04:57 seamless and now we take away all of the
04:59 content that was in your place and you
05:02 focus you on your query the search box
05:04 you can’t see now that can take up to 2
05:06 000 characters so you can really you can
05:08 just talk to it you can just ask for it
05:10 so in this case let’s say I’m going to
05:11 ask for a gaming optimized TV
05:13 all I have to say is which of these are
05:16 best for gaming and we remember all of
05:18 the context we know that we’re talking
05:20 about flat screens we know we’re talking
05:22 about 65-inch TVs and look how Bing
05:24 starts to come back it does all the
05:26 queries on my behalf and comes back with
05:28 a great answer
05:30 and I just want to highlight a few
05:31 things for you since we know you’re
05:32 asking about gaming TVs we pull out oh
05:34 this one has a game Optimizer this has
05:36 game mode and so we make that really
05:38 helpful I’m on a budget
05:40 I’ll ask it to adjust it for which one
05:42 of these is the cheapest again Bing
05:45 knows the context and it just goes in
05:47 and re-fires the queries
05:50 so easy you just talk to it and you can
05:52 refine your shopping experience and
05:54 again we find the prices here I didn’t
05:56 know you could get a flat screen for
05:57 under 500 but that’s a good deal there
05:59 on Bing if you’re looking for a TV
06:02 all right so we think that’s going to
06:04 make shopping and shopping easier let’s
06:06 talk about travel and before I jump in I
06:08 want to kind of just remind you have you
06:10 remind yourself when you’re going to
06:12 plan a trip to a foreign country think
06:13 about all the things you go through
06:15 travel times what sites do I want to see
06:18 regulations to observe budget our
06:21 research shows were on Bing people spend
06:23 on average weeks to even months to plan
06:25 a trip and to use our organizational
06:27 tools I’m going to show you how we make
06:29 that so much easier with the new Bing
06:30 I’m traveling to Mexico for my cousin’s
06:33 wedding and with the new being I now
06:35 don’t have to start with something
06:36 that’s dumbed down like Mexico City
06:38 travel tips I can ask for what I want
06:41 first let me just compare that against
06:42 what you get in today’s search engines
06:44 so I’ll type in this long query of what
06:46 I really want and you know you get what
06:48 you expect links to go try and find find
06:50 the answer for yourself right but we can
06:53 do much better let’s try it in the new
06:55 Bing so I’ll type the I put in the long
06:58 query
06:59 which is essentially create an itinerary
07:01 for a five-day trip to Mexico City for
07:04 me and my family
07:06 and just like that Bing goes to work and
07:08 just take a look at how it starts to
07:10 compile it starts with day one and we we
07:13 put in there look arrive in Mexico City
07:14 check into your hotel go check out maybe
07:17 the Playa de artes you know have some
07:20 lunch then there’s day two and you see
07:23 isn’t this just so much better as a
07:26 starting point and look if you want to
07:28 learn more if you’re like hey I don’t
07:28 love these five days no problem down
07:30 there we have links where you can go and
07:32 learn more
07:33 and uh and we put in some nice touches
07:35 in there as well and again now let’s say
07:38 business travel changes oh I only have a
07:40 three day I don’t have to go back out
07:42 there and figure I just say hey make
07:43 this a three-day trip
07:45 and Bing reflows that recommendation
07:48 into a three-day trip and now let’s now
07:50 let’s just have some fun let’s say okay
07:51 yeah I’m still trip planning
07:53 um we like to shop where can I shop
07:57 and you get some shopping
07:58 recommendations like to go out at night
08:00 all right make the most of the trip
08:01 where’s the nightlife
08:05 and you get a list of nightlife you see
08:08 this is just so much better than today’s
08:10 shirt search to start uh for your travel
08:13 planning let me show you a final example
08:16 of uh chat and how I think the new
08:19 language models are going to maybe help
08:21 bring the world a little bit closer
08:23 together
08:24 understanding different cultures is
08:25 often done through the Arts like music
08:27 and literature and I’ve been fascinated
08:29 by Japanese Traditions saty shared with
08:32 me one of his favorite searches from a
08:34 while back on poetry so with that I’m
08:36 going to use that as inspiration so
08:38 without a clear idea of what I want
08:39 necessarily I’m just going to type in a
08:41 simple prompt top Japanese poets
08:44 and Bing starts to respond with a nice
08:46 list and you see this it does a great
08:49 job of mixing the Japanese language and
08:51 the English language and it knows since
08:52 I’m currently in English to do that
08:55 right away I learned about this poet
08:57 matsuo bashu turns out he is uh one of
09:00 the greatest Haiku masters of the world
09:03 I love how it not only lists his name
09:05 but we go ahead and we give you one of
09:07 his famous haikus in Japanese and we
09:09 Auto translate it in English
09:11 great and I could say I want to learn a
09:13 little bit more about matsuo so I can
09:15 tell me a little bit more
09:17 we give you another jumping off point
09:18 that’s great and then I can say hey tell
09:20 me about another haiku
09:22 now what I want you to reflect on is
09:24 look how easy this is to discover
09:27 something new normally I might not have
09:29 done this I might not have gone to learn
09:30 about something new in the world through
09:32 search because it’s just you know it’s
09:34 cumbersome to click on links and have to
09:35 deal with foreign languages but this is
09:37 what we mean by unlocking the joy of
09:39 discovery
09:41 all right finally when what you are
09:44 searching for doesn’t exist and you need
09:45 that spark of creativity Bing can
09:48 generate the content to help you get
09:49 started
09:50 we just finished planning that trip to
09:52 Mexico and now what I would like to do
09:54 is I’d like to share that information
09:55 with my family
09:57 they’re all over the world but I can
09:59 simply ask Bing hey write an email
10:01 sharing this itinerary uh with that I’ve
10:04 researched and and put it in the thing
10:06 for me to be able to send to my family
10:09 so notice here how the email starts it’s
10:12 a great email personalized touches has
10:14 the trip highlights it’ll close here
10:17 with a nice heartfelt message it’s just
10:19 a great way it just saves a bunch of
10:20 time on your everyday work
10:22 now for my family uh English isn’t
10:25 necessarily always the first language so
10:27 I can ask Bing to just translate that in
10:28 Spanish
10:29 and with a simple request just basically
10:31 say hey translate it to Spanish big
10:34 knows to take that entire email and
10:35 itinerary and convert that into Spanish
10:37 in fact Bing can translate automatically
10:41 in over a hundred languages
10:43 my sister I’m going to admit to you
10:44 she’s a better Spanish writer than I am
10:46 but I might just impress her with this
10:49 one here and even if I don’t at least I
10:51 save myself a lot of time from having to
10:53 type the mail
10:54 our focus with Bing is to help generate
10:57 content and inspiration that helps you
10:58 with your daily life
11:00 and I’m going to give you a couple more
11:01 examples
11:02 uh let me show you one here
11:05 I want to create a weekly meal plan from
11:07 my family a four that has vegetarian
11:09 options and caters to those that don’t
11:11 like nuts
11:13 since I’m not the healthiest of eater
11:15 I’m going to admit to you here on
11:16 occasion this has given me a great uh
11:19 list Day by Day breakfast lunch and
11:21 dinner with all of the ingredients
11:24 so much easier to help you start like to
11:26 create a meal plan that says hey let me
11:27 get to a healthier meal plan uh now this
11:30 there’s some things in there I learned
11:31 when I did this query which is chia
11:33 seeds which I don’t normally eat that
11:34 sparked another idea to show you let’s
11:36 say I want to get this grocery list by
11:38 grocery section so all I can do is say
11:40 give me that grocery list by grocery
11:42 section and Bing now takes that exact
11:45 menu for the week and puts all of the
11:48 ingredients I need by section by grocery
11:50 section so when I go shopping that can
11:53 be super efficient right so you see all
11:55 of the ingredients there it’s a great
11:57 it’s a great help
11:59 and then finally if you’re looking for
12:01 family activities and you’re struggling
12:02 for ideas Bing can help you with fun
12:04 things like spontaneous trivia games
12:06 my family and I were into music so I
12:09 asked Bing to create a 90s music trivia
12:11 game and just look how great some of
12:14 these questions are and the answer so
12:15 just create that game for you and uh um
12:18 we were having a little debate backstage
12:20 about one of the questions that comes up
12:22 here which is uh who wrote the hip song
12:24 uh Jump Around is it crisscross or House
12:27 of Pain and I call it out because it
12:29 shows you how clever it is because for
12:30 those of you who know your 90s hip-hop
12:32 Kriss Kross wrote a song called jump
12:35 but House of Pain was the one that wrote
12:37 jump around that’s how clever Bing is
12:40 so Bing is going to help you make great
12:42 with your look great with your family
12:43 and have a bunch of fun
