Hi welcome to another episode of Cold Fusion this was Google in 1998 so we’re right between that house and this house renting this half of the house ping pong table here going to the Legislative Office there’s Larry CEO of Google say something hi it was a small company run out of the
Garage of Susan wojcicki who is interestingly the current CEO of YouTube simply from recognizing the value of organizing information on the web Google managed to grow from a few tinkering PhD students to a formidable giant that now owns over 90 percent of search and carries out over 8 billion search queries per day
For two decades now Google has been the Undisputed king of web searches the term Google has been synonymous with searching for information need a recipe or remove your review or just settling an argument with a friend you can just Google it with a net worth of 1.15 trillion
Dollars in 2022 they seem Unstoppable so what exactly could make a massive company like Google Panic so much so that they issued an internal Code Red well it’s open ai’s chat GPT of course with Microsoft’s plans to integrate the AI system into their search engine Bing Google search May face a serious threat
For the first time in its history could this be one of the biggest technology story arcs in history while making this episode I kind of felt like we’re at the beginning of an AI War so in the following we’ll learn what Google might do about the situation they’re actually already fighting back
We’ll get into that and we’ll also see why exactly chat GPT is such a threat to Google’s Central business model let’s take a look Fusion TV When to transform just about every industry including education chat GPT pass the US medical licensing exam the bar exam and got a B on a Wharton MBA paper a conversational chatbot capable of responding to any query in a human-like manner always seem to be a technology of
The future for the masses anyway until chat GPT following its release chat GPT has garnered huge attention from around the world to give you an idea of the scale of this moment chat GPT has been the fastest app in history to reach 100 million users it’s taken just two months whereas
Tiktok took nine and Instagram 30. a rapid adoption rate is a classic early signal of a disruptive product or technology a couple of months ago we took a deep dive into chat GPT since then it’s been updated and is better than ever however as I previously stated it’s
Important to know that it’s not perfect and may sometimes give bias or outright incorrect information if you want to see that episode on chat GPT and open ai’s views on the future of these systems in more detail the link for that episode can be found in the description below Microsoft is looking to capitalize namely by putting this technology in their search engine Bing the massive implications of this will be discussed later in the episode but for now we’ve got to find out something how did Microsoft and openai get involved with each other in the first place
The alliance between the two started in 2019 when Microsoft invested one billion dollars into openai this was very crucial for both companies open AI needed some cash as well as the computing power of Microsoft’s Azure cloud services this allowed the AI research firm to scale and drastically reduce its operating costs Microsoft on
The other hand was able to acquire open ai’s intellectual property portfolio in the process in essence Microsoft now has access to some of the world’s best AI technology giving it a Competitive Edge over other major players in the tech industry since then Microsoft and openai have been working together on various projects and
Specifically chat GPT CEO saty Nadella saying its impact will be quote at the magnitude of the personal computer the internet mobile devices and the cloud When Microsoft made the bombshell announcement that they were integrating chat GPT into Bing Google was in shock an emergency code red situation was declared and I could imagine the Frantic meetings one Google executive told the New York Times it was a make or break moment for the company
But wait this is Google we’re talking about the company with Far and Away the world’s leading search engine they dominate 90 of search queries Microsoft with their dinky little Bing accounts for only nine percent of worldwide desktop searches in 2022 so why is Google panicking Google is
Looking at what might happen in the future and not what’s happening today chat Bots are not new but the level of performance seen by chat GPT definitely is the thing that sets it apart from the Medicore chat bots of the past is that it’s a generative pre-trained
Transformer or GPT in plain language it just means that it’s been trained on billions of parameters and petabytes of text this training allows the system to generate new text in a way that mimics the understanding of a wide range of queries and can respond accordingly chat GPT or the inevitable flood of AI
Assistance has the potential to revolutionize how we interact with search engines Microsoft could see this as well and that’s why they’ve been betting on open Ai and its technology for a second I just want you to stop and think about it if an ai-powered search engine gave you the specific information
Or answer you want in a concise manner but you could also ask further questions and drill down into the details that you want this would be revolutionary you don’t have to click through a bunch of links and waste your time right now if you want a specific answer you have to
Google what you’re looking for get a bunch of results that may or may not fit and if it’s specific enough you end up going to a forum anyway and searching through all the answers there in this ai-powered search engine world the answer would already be synthesized for
You and this is because the AI has already crawled through the whole web and read it already and I think this is where ai-powered search will excel the most for very specific problems just this implication alone is huge obviously if you want to know something political
Or something that could have a slant or bias that’s another story uh it has Google shook a little bit uh calling a code red and there’s a good reason for that chat GPT is potentially an existential threat to Google’s business because Google relies 60 of its
Revenue on search and chat GPT offers an alternative to search which is a One-Stop question answering shop powered by AI but this could change the game of search entirely which is core to Google’s business if open AI integrates a chat gpt-like language model into Bing search engine
People will just be able to find the results that they need without having to scroll through a flat page of search results that are littered with ads this may be good news for users but for a company like Google it’s very bad news and why is this so bad for Google
Because roughly 60 percent of their revenue comes from Google Search if the magnitude of this income becomes significantly damaged it could be catastrophic Google’s business model is centered around advertising it’s been their long-standing primary source of Revenue by charging companies for promoted search links or AdSense links on
Websites the company has built a lucrative business model but it’s clear that chat gpt’s integration with Bing has the potential to disrupt this entire system if that doesn’t sound bad enough the creator of Gmail himself said that chat GPT will destroy Google’s business in two years
While I don’t think this is the case because Google isn’t going to just sit still as you’ll soon see it still is interesting that he said this in January of 2023 the Department of Justice filed an Anti-Trust lawsuit against Google they stated quote Google has used anti-competitive exclusionary and
Unlawful means to eliminate or severely diminish any threats to its dominance over digital advertising Technologies this isn’t to mention the 12 000 Google employees that were recently let go this is probably due to higher interest rates and a changing Market but still all things considered these are some of the
Biggest challenges Google has seen in its 20 years of dominance so it’s no surprise that the company issued the code red but here’s the crazy thing they even sought help from their co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin both of which had stepped down from their executive
Positions back in 2019 and have not been actively involved in the company’s operations according to the New York Times the pair was invited to an executive meeting to strategize on how to integrate chatbot features into Google search engine they were also said to be devising a plan for the company’s AI operations
According to Forbes Sergey Brin has requested access into Google’s internal code and he was taking a look at some Lambda code this could indicate that Google will be using Lambda in their response to open AI when Google calls them the Old Guard you know things are getting serious
Meanwhile Microsoft is going all out they’re going to be investing an extra 10 billion dollars into open AI as part of the new agreement Microsoft will receive 75 percent of open AI profits until it recoups its investment and then will hold a 49 stake in the company afterwards unfortunately this is
The antithesis of what the open AI company originally stood for if all goes well this may turn out to be one of the best business deals of the decade right now Chrome is the default option for Android and Google pays Apple huge sums of money just to be the default
Option on iPhones and Mac OS devices this has no doubt worked wonders for Google in the past especially since there’s been no real alternative but now that Ben could eat some market share I think Google will use their default status and dominating market share to their advantage while they hit back
This is how I think things may play out if Google gets their act together so Google are probably going to rapidly prototype and release an ai-powered search engine competitor integrated into Google Chrome and because Google Chrome is the default browser for so many this new tool will gain widespread adoption
Without much effort and end up killing being AI before it really gets a chance to start now I could be wrong but it just seems like Google has to make a major move like this it’s reported that Google is working on 20 AI projects including image generation tools a product for Prototype
App testing and even a green screen mode for YouTube creatives one of the most interesting pieces of research is music LM an AI that can transform whistled or humming Melodies into a certain style which is described in text so it’s clear that Google isn’t sleeping in a staff memo CEO Sundar pachai wrote
Quote I am confident about the huge opportunity in front of us thanks to the strength of our mission the value of our products and services and our early investments in AI to fully capture it we’ll have to make some tough choices and I think that last sentence is key it
Seems like Google may be forced to put the safety issues on the back seat and will just start unleashing the AI products they could turn the playing field around quite quickly and this is some news just in according to CNBC Google is currently testing a chat GPT competitor called Apprentice
Bard internally with its employees and also a group of Engineers have left open Ai and started their own AI company and the first product Claude is similar to chat GPT but better in some cases the company called anthropic AI has already raised over one billion dollars and guess what Google just invested 300
Million things are really heating up now but for those of you who are really into technology something doesn’t add up here Google has been working on AI technology for a long time even as far back as 2016 Google CEO Sundar pachai wanted to make Google quote an AI first company so how
Could they be caught with their pants down like this well in a Twist of irony Google inadvertently gave open AI the keys to the castle In 2017 Google researchers published a paper that would silently change the world it outlined a method of processing text images and more it was called a Transformer and their technique allowed an AI to focus on specific parts of an input rather than having to process the entire sequence this allows for more
Effective and efficient processing of language data so in a way it was this groundbreaking work from Google scientists that later led to the development of open ai’s chat GPT problem for Google is that they moved too slowly and this was due to safety concerns and rightly so
Such a large company has a lofty reputation an offensive or misleading AI would be of high reputational risk for Google in general even though AI language models feel very human-like they occasionally produce a logical or outright false information and due to these reasons Google has released nothing publicly but the unavoidable
Consequence was frustrated researchers so some of them have left to raise money for their own AI startups that being said Google does have several language models for internal use the most famous of which was Lambda this language model made headlines in June of 2022 when a former Google engineer
Claimed it was sentient while that may not be true it was certainly sophisticated So let’s wrap this episode up by taking a look at what we know so far about an ai-powered Microsoft search engine Microsoft is expected to launch Bing with some chat GPT features at the end of March there is still some growing speculation about how the AI system will be
Integrated into the search engine one possibility is that chat GPT could allow users to just communicate with Bing in a more human-like way you don’t have to worry about keywords you just ask Bing the question in the same way that you would ask another person an anonymous Microsoft source told
Bloomberg that more conversational and contextual responses to queries will win over users by providing better quality answers that go beyond links Bing is about to get the features of Dali 2. that text to image generator that caused such a stir and kicked off this latest wave of AI art
This integration will allow users to type in text and generate images this feature will be particularly beneficial for searches where images don’t currently exist essentially it will allow users to create new images on demand Microsoft has said that they’re working closely with open AI so this feature doesn’t generate explicit or inappropriate visuals
So it looks like Bing is getting a major overhaul with chat GPT and Dali 2 features integrated it sure is going to grab everyone’s attention when it’s launched how exactly this pans out Still Remains to be seen but I certainly am intrigued and will be interesting to see how this plays out
So we may be on the cusp of a new era in which the search engine that we know becomes a thing of the past the digital directories of old will become the digital assistants of the future so I’m going to make it clear Google Search isn’t going anywhere anytime soon but
It’s so interesting to think that there could be a legitimate Contender around the corner and from Microsoft Bing of all places just think a year or two ago no one would have seen this coming it’s just amazing how fast things are moving so what are your thoughts a link based
Search result is going to expire do you think you’re going to warm up to an AI bot serving you the information that you need well Bing become a verb and finally do you think Google will hit back faster than we all expect please let me know in the comments
Section it’s going to be an interesting discussion alright so that’s about it from me feel free to have a browse through the cold fusion Channel there’s plenty of interesting topics on AI technology business and much more and also don’t forget to check out the chat GPT video linked below so thanks
For watching my name is the gogo and you’ve been watching cold fusion and I’ll catch you again soon for the next episode I’m going to play you out with a new track I made over on the second Channel cheers guys have a good one It’s me thinking
,00:01 hi welcome to another episode of Cold
00:03 Fusion
00:04 this was Google in 1998 so we’re right
00:08 between that house
00:10 and this house
00:12 renting this
00:14 half of the house
00:16 ping pong table
00:18 here
00:19 going to the Legislative Office
00:23 there’s Larry
00:25 CEO of Google
00:27 say something
00:30 hi
00:31 it was a small company run out of the
00:33 garage of Susan wojcicki who is
00:35 interestingly the current CEO of YouTube
00:38 simply from recognizing the value of
00:40 organizing information on the web Google
00:42 managed to grow from a few tinkering PhD
00:45 students to a formidable giant that now
00:47 owns over 90 percent of search
00:50 and carries out over 8 billion search
00:52 queries per day
00:54 for two decades now Google has been the
00:56 Undisputed king of web searches the term
00:59 Google has been synonymous with
01:01 searching for information need a recipe
01:03 or remove your review or just settling
01:05 an argument with a friend you can just
01:07 Google it
01:08 with a net worth of 1.15 trillion
01:11 dollars in 2022 they seem Unstoppable so
01:15 what exactly could make a massive
01:16 company like Google Panic so much so
01:19 that they issued an internal Code Red
01:22 well it’s open ai’s chat GPT of course
01:26 with Microsoft’s plans to integrate the
01:29 AI system into their search engine Bing
01:31 Google search May face a serious threat
01:34 for the first time in its history
01:36 could this be one of the biggest
01:38 technology story arcs in history while
01:41 making this episode I kind of felt like
01:43 we’re at the beginning of an AI War
01:46 so in the following we’ll learn what
01:48 Google might do about the situation
01:49 they’re actually already fighting back
01:51 we’ll get into that and we’ll also see
01:54 why exactly chat GPT is such a threat to
01:57 Google’s Central business model let’s
01:59 take a look
02:02 Fusion TV
02:04 [Music]
02:06 when to transform just about every
02:08 industry including education chat GPT
02:10 pass the US medical licensing exam the
02:14 bar exam and got a B on a Wharton MBA
02:17 paper
02:19 a conversational chatbot capable of
02:21 responding to any query in a human-like
02:24 manner always seem to be a technology of
02:26 the future for the masses anyway until
02:28 chat GPT
02:30 following its release chat GPT has
02:33 garnered huge attention from around the
02:34 world
02:36 to give you an idea of the scale of this
02:38 moment chat GPT has been the fastest app
02:41 in history to reach 100 million users
02:43 it’s taken just two months whereas
02:46 tiktok took nine and Instagram 30.
02:49 a rapid adoption rate is a classic early
02:52 signal of a disruptive product or
02:54 technology
02:57 a couple of months ago we took a deep
02:59 dive into chat GPT since then it’s been
03:02 updated and is better than ever
03:04 however as I previously stated it’s
03:07 important to know that it’s not perfect
03:09 and may sometimes give bias or outright
03:12 incorrect information if you want to see
03:14 that episode on chat GPT and open ai’s
03:16 views on the future of these systems in
03:18 more detail the link for that episode
03:20 can be found in the description below
03:24 [Music]
03:28 Microsoft is looking to capitalize
03:30 namely by putting this technology in
03:33 their search engine Bing the massive
03:35 implications of this will be discussed
03:37 later in the episode but for now we’ve
03:39 got to find out something how did
03:41 Microsoft and openai get involved with
03:44 each other in the first place
03:46 the alliance between the two started in
03:48 2019 when Microsoft invested one billion
03:51 dollars into openai this was very
03:53 crucial for both companies open AI
03:56 needed some cash as well as the
03:58 computing power of Microsoft’s Azure
04:00 cloud services this allowed the AI
04:02 research firm to scale and drastically
04:04 reduce its operating costs Microsoft on
04:07 the other hand was able to acquire open
04:09 ai’s intellectual property portfolio in
04:11 the process
04:13 in essence Microsoft now has access to
04:16 some of the world’s best AI technology
04:18 giving it a Competitive Edge over other
04:20 major players in the tech industry since
04:22 then Microsoft and openai have been
04:25 working together on various projects and
04:27 specifically chat GPT CEO saty Nadella
04:31 saying its impact will be quote at the
04:34 magnitude of the personal computer the
04:37 internet mobile devices and the cloud
04:45 [Music]
04:47 when Microsoft made the bombshell
04:49 announcement that they were integrating
04:50 chat GPT into Bing Google was in shock
04:54 an emergency code red situation was
04:56 declared and I could imagine the Frantic
04:58 meetings one Google executive told the
05:01 New York Times it was a make or break
05:02 moment for the company
05:04 but wait this is Google we’re talking
05:07 about the company with Far and Away the
05:09 world’s leading search engine they
05:11 dominate 90 of search queries Microsoft
05:14 with their dinky little Bing accounts
05:16 for only nine percent of worldwide
05:18 desktop searches in 2022
05:20 so why is Google panicking Google is
05:23 looking at what might happen in the
05:25 future and not what’s happening today
05:28 chat Bots are not new but the level of
05:30 performance seen by chat GPT definitely
05:33 is the thing that sets it apart from the
05:36 Medicore chat bots of the past is that
05:38 it’s a generative pre-trained
05:39 Transformer or GPT in plain language it
05:43 just means that it’s been trained on
05:44 billions of parameters and petabytes of
05:46 text this training allows the system to
05:48 generate new text in a way that mimics
05:50 the understanding of a wide range of
05:52 queries and can respond accordingly
05:55 chat GPT or the inevitable flood of AI
05:58 assistance has the potential to
06:00 revolutionize how we interact with
06:01 search engines
06:03 Microsoft could see this as well and
06:05 that’s why they’ve been betting on open
06:06 Ai and its technology
06:08 for a second I just want you to stop and
06:10 think about it if an ai-powered search
06:13 engine gave you the specific information
06:15 or answer you want in a concise manner
06:18 but you could also ask further questions
06:20 and drill down into the details that you
06:22 want this would be revolutionary you
06:25 don’t have to click through a bunch of
06:26 links and waste your time right now if
06:29 you want a specific answer you have to
06:30 Google what you’re looking for get a
06:32 bunch of results that may or may not fit
06:34 and if it’s specific enough you end up
06:36 going to a forum anyway and searching
06:38 through all the answers there in this
06:39 ai-powered search engine world the
06:41 answer would already be synthesized for
06:43 you and this is because the AI has
06:45 already crawled through the whole web
06:46 and read it already and I think this is
06:48 where ai-powered search will excel the
06:50 most for very specific problems just
06:52 this implication alone is huge obviously
06:56 if you want to know something political
06:57 or something that could have a slant or
06:59 bias that’s another story
07:02 uh it has Google shook a little bit uh
07:06 calling a code red and there’s a good
07:09 reason for that chat GPT is potentially
07:12 an existential threat to Google’s
07:14 business because Google relies 60 of its
07:17 revenue on search and chat GPT offers an
07:21 alternative to search which is a
07:22 One-Stop question answering shop powered
07:25 by AI but this could change the game of
07:27 search entirely which is core to
07:30 Google’s business
07:31 if open AI integrates a chat gpt-like
07:34 language model into Bing search engine
07:36 people will just be able to find the
07:38 results that they need without having to
07:40 scroll through a flat page of search
07:42 results that are littered with ads this
07:44 may be good news for users but for a
07:46 company like Google it’s very bad news
07:49 and why is this so bad for Google
07:51 because roughly 60 percent of their
07:53 revenue comes from Google Search
07:55 if the magnitude of this income becomes
07:57 significantly damaged it could be
07:59 catastrophic
08:01 Google’s business model is centered
08:03 around advertising it’s been their
08:05 long-standing primary source of Revenue
08:06 by charging companies for promoted
08:09 search links or AdSense links on
08:10 websites the company has built a
08:12 lucrative business model
08:14 but it’s clear that chat gpt’s
08:16 integration with Bing has the potential
08:18 to disrupt this entire system
08:21 if that doesn’t sound bad enough the
08:23 creator of Gmail himself said that chat
08:25 GPT will destroy Google’s business in
08:28 two years
08:29 while I don’t think this is the case
08:31 because Google isn’t going to just sit
08:33 still as you’ll soon see it still is
08:35 interesting that he said this
08:41 in January of 2023 the Department of
08:44 Justice filed an Anti-Trust lawsuit
08:46 against Google
08:47 they stated quote Google has used
08:50 anti-competitive exclusionary and
08:52 unlawful means to eliminate or severely
08:54 diminish any threats to its dominance
08:56 over digital advertising Technologies
09:00 this isn’t to mention the 12 000 Google
09:03 employees that were recently let go this
09:05 is probably due to higher interest rates
09:07 and a changing Market but still all
09:10 things considered these are some of the
09:11 biggest challenges Google has seen in
09:13 its 20 years of dominance so it’s no
09:15 surprise that the company issued the
09:17 code red but here’s the crazy thing they
09:20 even sought help from their co-founders
09:21 Larry Page and Sergey Brin both of which
09:24 had stepped down from their executive
09:26 positions back in 2019 and have not been
09:29 actively involved in the company’s
09:30 operations according to the New York
09:33 Times the pair was invited to an
09:34 executive meeting to strategize on how
09:37 to integrate chatbot features into
09:38 Google search engine they were also said
09:41 to be devising a plan for the company’s
09:43 AI operations
09:45 according to Forbes Sergey Brin has
09:47 requested access into Google’s internal
09:49 code and he was taking a look at some
09:51 Lambda code this could indicate that
09:53 Google will be using Lambda in their
09:55 response to open AI
09:57 when Google calls them the Old Guard you
09:59 know things are getting serious
10:02 meanwhile Microsoft is going all out
10:04 they’re going to be investing an extra
10:06 10 billion dollars into open AI
10:09 as part of the new agreement Microsoft
10:11 will receive 75 percent of open AI
10:14 profits until it recoups its investment
10:16 and then will hold a 49 stake in the
10:19 company afterwards unfortunately this is
10:21 the antithesis of what the open AI
10:23 company originally stood for
10:26 if all goes well this may turn out to be
10:29 one of the best business deals of the
10:31 decade
10:37 right now Chrome is the default option
10:39 for Android and Google pays Apple huge
10:41 sums of money just to be the default
10:43 option on iPhones and Mac OS devices
10:45 this has no doubt worked wonders for
10:48 Google in the past especially since
10:50 there’s been no real alternative but now
10:52 that Ben could eat some market share I
10:54 think Google will use their default
10:56 status and dominating market share to
10:58 their advantage while they hit back
11:00 this is how I think things may play out
11:02 if Google gets their act together
11:04 so Google are probably going to rapidly
11:07 prototype and release an ai-powered
11:09 search engine competitor integrated into
11:10 Google Chrome and because Google Chrome
11:12 is the default browser for so many this
11:15 new tool will gain widespread adoption
11:17 without much effort and end up killing
11:19 being AI before it really gets a chance
11:21 to start
11:23 now I could be wrong but it just seems
11:25 like Google has to make a major move
11:26 like this
11:29 it’s reported that Google is working on
11:31 20 AI projects including image
11:33 generation tools a product for Prototype
11:36 app testing and even a green screen mode
11:38 for YouTube creatives
11:39 one of the most interesting pieces of
11:41 research is music LM an AI that can
11:44 transform whistled or humming Melodies
11:46 into a certain style which is described
11:49 in text
11:50 so it’s clear that Google isn’t sleeping
11:52 in a staff memo CEO Sundar pachai wrote
11:56 quote I am confident about the huge
11:58 opportunity in front of us thanks to the
12:00 strength of our mission the value of our
12:02 products and services and our early
12:04 investments in AI to fully capture it
12:06 we’ll have to make some tough choices
12:08 and I think that last sentence is key it
12:11 seems like Google may be forced to put
12:13 the safety issues on the back seat and
12:15 will just start unleashing the AI
12:16 products they could turn the playing
12:18 field around quite quickly
12:20 and this is some news just in according
12:23 to CNBC Google is currently testing a
12:26 chat GPT competitor called Apprentice
12:28 Bard internally with its employees and
12:31 also a group of Engineers have left open
12:34 Ai and started their own AI company and
12:37 the first product Claude is similar to
12:39 chat GPT but better in some cases the
12:42 company called anthropic AI has already
12:45 raised over one billion dollars and
12:47 guess what Google just invested 300
12:50 million
12:51 things are really heating up now
12:54 but for those of you who are really into
12:56 technology something doesn’t add up here
12:58 Google has been working on AI technology
13:01 for a long time even as far back as 2016
13:04 Google CEO Sundar pachai wanted to make
13:07 Google quote an AI first company so how
13:10 could they be caught with their pants
13:12 down like this
13:13 well in a Twist of irony Google
13:16 inadvertently gave open AI the keys to
13:19 the castle
13:20 [Music]
13:24 in 2017 Google researchers published a
13:27 paper that would silently change the
13:28 world it outlined a method of processing
13:31 text images and more it was called a
13:34 Transformer and their technique allowed
13:36 an AI to focus on specific parts of an
13:38 input rather than having to process the
13:40 entire sequence this allows for more
13:43 effective and efficient processing of
13:44 language data
13:45 so in a way it was this groundbreaking
13:48 work from Google scientists that later
13:50 led to the development of open ai’s chat
13:52 GPT
13:54 problem for Google is that they moved
13:57 too slowly and this was due to safety
13:59 concerns and rightly so
14:01 such a large company has a lofty
14:03 reputation an offensive or misleading AI
14:06 would be of high reputational risk for
14:08 Google in general even though AI
14:11 language models feel very human-like
14:13 they occasionally produce a logical or
14:15 outright false information and due to
14:18 these reasons Google has released
14:19 nothing publicly but the unavoidable
14:22 consequence was frustrated researchers
14:24 so some of them have left to raise money
14:26 for their own AI startups
14:28 that being said Google does have several
14:31 language models for internal use the
14:33 most famous of which was Lambda this
14:35 language model made headlines in June of
14:36 2022 when a former Google engineer
14:39 claimed it was sentient while that may
14:41 not be true it was certainly
14:43 sophisticated
14:47 [Music]
14:49 so let’s wrap this episode up by taking
14:51 a look at what we know so far about an
14:53 ai-powered Microsoft search engine
14:55 Microsoft is expected to launch Bing
14:58 with some chat GPT features at the end
15:00 of March
15:01 there is still some growing speculation
15:03 about how the AI system will be
15:05 integrated into the search engine
15:07 one possibility is that chat GPT could
15:10 allow users to just communicate with
15:11 Bing in a more human-like way you don’t
15:14 have to worry about keywords you just
15:16 ask Bing the question in the same way
15:18 that you would ask another person an
15:20 anonymous Microsoft source told
15:21 Bloomberg that more conversational and
15:24 contextual responses to queries will win
15:26 over users by providing better quality
15:28 answers that go beyond links Bing is
15:31 about to get the features of Dali 2.
15:33 that text to image generator that caused
15:35 such a stir and kicked off this latest
15:37 wave of AI art
15:38 this integration will allow users to
15:41 type in text and generate images this
15:43 feature will be particularly beneficial
15:45 for searches where images don’t
15:47 currently exist essentially it will
15:49 allow users to create new images on
15:52 demand Microsoft has said that they’re
15:54 working closely with open AI so this
15:56 feature doesn’t generate explicit or
15:58 inappropriate visuals
16:00 so it looks like Bing is getting a major
16:02 overhaul with chat GPT and Dali 2
16:04 features integrated it sure is going to
16:07 grab everyone’s attention when it’s
16:08 launched how exactly this pans out Still
16:11 Remains to be seen but I certainly am
16:13 intrigued and will be interesting to see
16:15 how this plays out
16:17 so we may be on the cusp of a new era in
16:21 which the search engine that we know
16:22 becomes a thing of the past the digital
16:24 directories of old will become the
16:27 digital assistants of the future so I’m
16:29 going to make it clear Google Search
16:31 isn’t going anywhere anytime soon but
16:34 it’s so interesting to think that there
16:36 could be a legitimate Contender around
16:38 the corner and from Microsoft Bing of
16:40 all places just think a year or two ago
16:43 no one would have seen this coming it’s
16:45 just amazing how fast things are moving
16:48 so what are your thoughts a link based
16:50 search result is going to expire do you
16:52 think you’re going to warm up to an AI
16:54 bot serving you the information that you
16:55 need well Bing become a verb and finally
16:59 do you think Google will hit back faster
17:01 than we all expect
17:03 please let me know in the comments
17:05 section it’s going to be an interesting
17:06 discussion
17:07 alright so that’s about it from me feel
17:09 free to have a browse through the cold
17:11 fusion Channel there’s plenty of
17:12 interesting topics on AI technology
17:14 business and much more
17:17 and also don’t forget to check out the
17:19 chat GPT video linked below so thanks
17:21 for watching my name is the gogo and
17:23 you’ve been watching cold fusion and
17:25 I’ll catch you again soon for the next
17:26 episode I’m going to play you out with a
